Antique Gold-Filled T-Bar, 'AOUW' fob Watch Chain Necklace
The perfect antique gold-filled, story-telling layer... we love Victorian pocket watch chains and love making them into necklaces- especially when they are as story-telling and ornate as this one - which includes a fob from one of the earliest Unions in the country!
Often called ' Albert chains,' named after a style of pocket watch chain Prince Albert wore and popularized in the Victorian Era (19th century). Traditionally this style of watch chain has a clasp on one end, and a T-bar - to loop through a men's vest button hole. We combined two chains to elongate this one to 18" - to be worn as a necklace. Original dog clip clasp, T-bar and fabulous enameled fob creates a perfectly asymmetrical, charmed look, - most likely from the late 1800s. See below to learn more about the history of the AOUW.

- We did a little research on the history of 'AOUW' and it was an organization called the Ancient Order of United Workmen. It aimed to reduce conflicts between employers and employees and to provide financial protection to the working class, as well as insurance.
